Cold Air Intakes

So I am not to fluent on cars when it comes to performance but know somethings. I am wondering if an aftermarket Cold air intake is really worth it?? I have read in several forums that they are and arent and couldnt decide wether or not they are. Could someone break it down for me and explain their opinion on this topic??

Thanks

if you are getting an intake for performance, best just to get a z-tube and k&n filter and use the stock air box

if you want it for the sounds and performance, get a z-tube and pop charger or something

CAI is not worth it

2nd that. Get something like the JWT pop charger and the z-tube and you're good to go.

Yeah, keep it stock or go with the Stillen kit, which includes the "z" tube.

alright so looks like nobody is goin to detailed into why a cold air intake system isnt as good as advertised.. basically.. the g35 airbox provides for a good intake as it is.. the only thing that doesnt let it perform as well as it should is the part ur gonna replaces wit a ztube..(which 350z's come stock with) , basically the normal tube in the g35 has things that muffle the sound and rob the engine of potential power.. so u get a z tube and leave the stock airbox because the stock airbox works very well as a heatshield that normally ud have to lose wit a full intake system.. oh and most intake when installed end up being down near the bumper so it could also get wet too so that wouldnt be too good..

so ya either k&n filter and ztube , or ztube and jwt popcharger

Yeah I mean really it boils down to the fact that Infiniti did a really good job designing the intake to begin with, just not a lot of room for improvement.

Quoted HP gains by companies can be misleading, For example, what if you lost 12 horsepower all through the band but gained 8 in only one small area of the power curve. The company would claim 8HP gain, but its not the whole story.

Yeah company claims are always bs. Glad their our forums like this to help out noobs. I was thinking cold air intake at first. Only reason I'm getting a Stillen intake is because of a Strut Bar.

Best intake 06 G35 Airbox (has a larger velocity stack, search), Z tube (from a 350z) & K&N filter. All can be had for under $100.

GL.

Cold Air intakes also have a lot longer run to get the air to the engine. I would get a OEM rev-up airbox if you have an automatic. This airbox has a larger velocity stack.
