350Z air duct interchangeable with the g sedan?
350Z air duct interchangeable with the g sedan?
Someone posted a picture of the two air ducts in one the threads. The G has a resonator to reduce the noise and the Z doe not have it. Can I get a Z air duct to fit for my sedan? I know I can get a cai which I have done with my Acura, but if the air ducts are interchangeable, I'll just get the Z duct. Anyone please. Thanks

The Z-tube will directly replace your existing set up.

Thanks gordnee. Just called a Nissan dealer about the Z tube. Dealer quoted me $108 for that plastic tube!!! Is that the usual price? Can I modify from my existing one?

look in the parts section of this forum or on My350Z.com. you should be able to find used ones for $50 or so. or just find somebody with a Z who's replaced theirs and buy them a beer...which is how i acquired mine. i'm installing mine with a K&N today.
based on your preference, you could also add pop-charger or stillen hi-flow box with this Z intake tube.
good luck.

You can also purchase a new (350) Z Tube for $75 plus minimal shipping on EverythingG35.com or PerformanceNissanParts.com. It's defintely worth it to replace your stock intake with the Z tube! If you haven't already done so, you may also want to look into replacing your stock Infiniti/Nissan air filter with a K&N drop-in air filter as well. You get a lot of bang for your buck with the Z-tube/K&N filter combo; many say this mod is better than a CAI (and for 1/2 the price ;-).

Some have modded their existing tubes by applying various patches, etc. It will give you the sound, and may disturb the flow of the air less by eliminating the resonator.
It's a bit of a risk, depending on your patch though. I did one up with thermoplastic bonded to the hole which I think is the way to go if you want to do a safe, secure patch.
Though good deals can be had from a Z driver, many have heard of the demand for these things and have been charging up to or even over $75 for them!

This is the reason why I bought a new one for $75, and I knew it was free of any defects (with a $$ back guarantee). I'm sure most people selling their used Z tubes just replaced theirs with other things like a CAI, etc., but you never know if a car was in an accident and they were selling left over (possibly damaged) parts. One guy (I questioned about a Z tube he was selling) told me that he got the Z tube from another guy who bought something else from him (I guess as a barter trade)...I don't know -- you just don't always know what you're really getting. 'Buyer Beware."
Plus, when you buy from a retail/online store, you have the security of using Visa for your purchase...better to buy new (especially for close to or the same price as used), IMO.
