how can you make the jwt popcharger more effective

Hey guys i have the jwt popcharger, and i dont really think that the heatshield is as effective as it should be. Its not really helping in keeping the temps cooler. Have you guys tried anything different, like using the stillen airbox, or wrapping the popcharger.

I put my pop-charger filter on with my stillen airbox. IMO that is the best combo for an intake on this car. Its too bad stillen does not offer just the heatsheild from there intake.

Or you can throw an R2C Filter on with a Stillen heatshield.
That's why I did.

+1 on the R2C pics... I've only "read" about a couple ppl using it - and read about needing to trim part of the Stillen heat shield... however, every time a pic is requested the topic falls away.

i dont know about buying 2 different intakes to make one, (sounds like a good product suggestions vendors) but that rubber edging you have to put on the jwt heatshield is a pita.

Sorry for the late reply, fellas.

This is the only picture I have right now, and it'll be that way for a while since my car's down in Los Angeles while I'm up @ Berkeley for school.

As for cutting the heatshield, who cares?

^^^ I care... looks like you had to cut the entire front?... not able to use the power duct?...

I'll pass.

Thank you for posting the pic though.

No problem.

Yes, I had to cut the bottom part of the heatshield off. Besides a slight difference in looks, I don't see the difference it makes, especially to the heatshield's ability to... shield heat, which I know is something about which you're concerned.

If I were to cut off the bottom side of the power duct, then I'd be able to use that, too. I'd rather not cut my stock one, though; I'd rather get another to cut instead and use that. That's on my to do list.

I believe Stillen finally started selling just the heat shield alone... it took them a while - I was asking why they didn’t a few years ago, and since them I've heard they are.

You've always been able to buy the pop charger separately (without heat shield).

So yes, I’m pretty sure you can do the Stillen heat shield pop charger combo with out buying both full kits.
