$30 intake vs. $300 intake

im looking to buy an intake for my g. just wondering why intakes are either a very low price, or a high price? whats the difference between the two? quality? or are we just buying the name brand.

the concept is simple: a pipe with a filter, increasing air induction.

$300 will get you that much more horses than the $30 intake...

while the concept is simple pulling it off properly is not.

Matters like heat soak, hydrolock and other things all come into factor. If you looking at cheap ebay intakes for 30 bucks im willing to bet your gonna have a car that stalls randomly due to heat soak. People even had this problem with the Z tube and pop charger combo.

Also a proper size is needed as well. You cant just stick a 6 inch wide tube in your engine bay and duck tape it to your MAF and expect to gain an outrageous amount of power. Your stock MAF can only take in so much air and the injectors can only spit out so much fuel.

It isnt impossible but you can get a cheaper intake that will preform well you just have to set everything up correctly. Home made heat shields are a great idea. If you looking for an intake on a buget id say just get the Ztube and hook it up to the factory intake (which makes just as much power as an intake) and call it a day. Your intake is only gonna give you gains with more breathing mods + tuning anyway.

I buy the cheap ones for the piping (which they rip off from the original nismo design or similar) and then I put a K&N filter on it to make sure it filters properly, the filters that come in those kits are crap.
