I watched your G on the dyno on the other thread and was wondering what the popping noise was at 30 seconds? Is it the backfire from the exhaust or the dyno making that noise?

Excellent gains BTW. Also, how much raspiness do you have with the test pipes and the resonator mid-pipe?

 

Its backfire because of the test pipes.
Its not uncommon for test pipes to do that. Normally the cats devouer the unburned gasoline fumes that come out of the engine, but without the cats, thoes fumes accumulate in a length of pipe where they are later re-ignited. And that is what causes the backfire.

 

This is completely unrelated, but I had a question regarding the spacer installation.

I coudn't find the loctite that came with my spacer kit and I installed it anyway. On Wednesday I decided to re-tighten the bolts by hand with a nutdriver and some of the bolts were turned about a half turn to make it tight. Is that normal without the loctite?

Should I just go get some loctite at Home Depot and re-torque all of the bolts, or just tighten them once a week? I don't mind either way.

Not just the test pipes ,it could also be a misfire with my engine since I recently changed the spark plugs.. it's a possibility that I didn't properly gap them plugs or placed them all the way into their resting spots..

 

Will a XYZ pipe for a 350z fit a G35 coupe??

 

yes. It's the y-back portion that needs an extension. You can use 350z cats and y-pipes with no problem (well, except for the HR cats, unless you have HR headers).

Yes, the XYZ with any one of the attachment modules (straight pipe, resonator or HFC) will fit just like your stock Y-pipe.

 

just wondering does anyone that fitted the y-pipe with resonator and lowered actually scrapped the resonator going over the speed hump?

I'm lowered on H-Tech springs and the resonator scraping doesn't happen to me. The front bumper scraping is a bigger problem.

Im having fitament issues with my XYZ-pipe. I have an 03 350z and had installed ART pipes and tried to have the XYZ installed, but it wouldn't clear the Transmission brace and was too tight to the frame.






Pic attached. Not trying to hijack, just frustrated. I cant understand why fitament is an issue nor could the exhaust shop.

Even the HR-Y-pipe is rattling against the frame due to the Right Art pipe.

a friend of mine had a similar issue...he had a tight fit (about 2mm) between the xyz and transmission bracket -- he made room by using a rubber mallet then touching up with black paint

you may just want to hit the transmission brace with a rubber mallet...the brace still is functional

....just measure how much you need for clearence....
