Question about my exhaust
#16
I wish we had production data. I know that the majority of people here have RWD G35's, but where I live, 19 times out of 20 the G35 sedan you see on the highway is in fact an AWD model. But i bet if you go south, you'd hardly see an AWD model.
I wish we could see a breakdown of how many AWD, 6MT's and total production of G35 sedans each year.

Prob has a lot to do with the principle that most people into performance are going to buy a RWD model and the AWD cars are more or less for the "commuters". The market for AWD performance parts is prob very small than not a whole lot of companies want to invest the R&D into it for little investment.
The vast majority of sedan performance parts probably stems from R&D into 350Z and G3 coupe performance parts since that's where the biggest market seems to be. We get the leftover byproducts that interchange.

this is what I see with the different Y-pipes...
my 04 G35x had the old school short runner y-pipe.. the dealer installed the "HR lookalike" Y-pipe without the pucks that he had laying around after an exhaust upgrade for another customer... I DID notice a deeper, louder sound, been very happy with it in combination with all the other intake/exhaust mods.
From the pics.. the X Y-pipe looks identical to the Z HR Y-pipe... minus the pucks... the G37 Y-pipe DEFINITELY is different.. the pipes are even thinner, verified by another member on a previous post.

08 G37 Y-pipe

The first two are exactly the same length.. DaveB and I are running the same cat-back OEM exhaust setup, with the exception of the version of Y-pipe... they were both direct bolt-on, no clearance issues or modifications required what so ever! only difference is one has the vibration pucks.. and the other doesn't.<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

the reason why you're thinking like this because alot of user here have 2wd.
barely anyone has a g35x.
i became aware of mines decades ago. lol <----over exaggerating
i bought after market y-pipe and tried to mount it on, and it wouldnt fit, so i forced it. lol <---- dumb of me...
we have AWD! meaning everything is a PITA for parts and installing.
y-pipe, alot of them u have to get custom welded.
cats, u have to get custom also.
u cant just throw one on, because i tried and the driver side fits, but the passenger side doesnt, i had to get it chopped, rotated, chop again, rotate and then weld.
but after all, it sound totally different from a 2wd.
..............we have 2 diffs.... and remember when purchasing anything, ask if it will work for the awd, if they say yes, they're BULLSH!TT!NG
