Dave I threw the oem G tube back on. This thing better make 25hp.

I'm trying to quiet things down as much as possible actually. So while changing the oil and swapping out my worn out oem filter with the K&N I had, I decided to swap to the oem G tube.

I'll post tomorrow after the commute.

Maybe a bit quieter but hard to tell. It seems peppier but then again, I had a good 9-10k on the oem filter I just replaced. Tony had said, performance does go down when that oem filters get too many miles on them (ie.. get dirty). My exhaust probably drowns out any subtle differences.

Isn't it odd that there's not much sound difference when swapping this thing back in?

^^^ I find it odd that anyone would care about “sound difference”…

Personally, if I could make my car as fast as it is without any sound I’d be thrilled!

I know there are those that think breather mods don’t make gains (foolish)… but proper intake and exhaust modifications (regardless of what internet study you’ve found from those without tune) will result in gains.

Yes, we can go around in circles about this – but unless you are willing to dispute with dyno or track comparisons, please don’t waste everyone’s time again.

sigh. That time of the month again?

First off, I put the term "breather" mod right up there with the term "tints". It drives me batty It sounds so stupid.

All I was saying, as most people probably understood, was that swapping the G-tube back on a VQ35DE with the RevUp airbox and spacer (or Jeff's case a plenum), doesn't result in much of a sound change. I don't like excessive volume from my cars, but I do like hear them with a sporty and obviously sound. I don't want it "hey look at me" nor do I want drone/vibrations. I also don't want it quiet.

I have no idea why you brought up the vaildity of certain intake and exhaust gains. You skull is apparently so thick and your brain so short term because I have a spacer on my car, plan to get the MD HFCs, and the Technosquare ECU. Swapping the G-tube back on my car simply improved overall driveability while not changing sound much. I'm not the only that's noticed the improved drivability with the G-tube.

IMHO most of the peppiness is from putting a new filter in. It's smoother up high in the revs but that's probably because if the sound deadening of the baffles.

My exhaust gives me all the sound I want so I want everything else quieter if possible.

Plus I'm defaulting to Tony's dynos stating there were no differences in hp. I consistently default to Tony's expertise and don't selectively use him when it suits me.
