Spacer vs. V+ Plenum

Hey all. I've currently got the Motordyne 5/16" spacer installed on my car, and have placed an order for the Kinetix V+ plenum. Anyone used it, after running a spacer? If so how much of a difference was there? I know the new plenum is designed to do the same thing as the spacer, as far as opening up flow to the two choked off cylinders. But I am figuring it'll be a much better overall hp increase with the increased overall air flow of the V+. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You'd get more benefit from using the 5/16 adding the MREV2.

Is this really true since the v+ came out? Everyone referrences the dyno test but that was a while ago and Kinetix has redesigned their intake..has anyone dyno'ed the new one?

i don't know But I'mgoing to find out. I'll keep my spacer, and I'll put the new V+ plenum on, and see how it feels, I'm sure I'll notice a difference. I guess only time will tell though.

I plan on dyno'ing both but I have the Skunk2 spacer so it will not be the MD spacer vs Kinetix.

I will get a dyno tune once I get all my goodies put on the car. Do you have an aftermarket EMS? or just a reflash?

The new one just has more volume. Just like using a thicker spacer. As motordyne has shown more (in this case thicker) isn't always better. As the spacer gets thicker, the low end starts to suffer and the gains move higher and higher in the rpm band.

I don't know if the Kinetix V+ will do against the 5/16" spacer but your 5/16" has shown the one of the most "area under the curve" gains of all the spacers / plenums. The delta difference wouldn't be worth the extra expense (if there actually any gains to be had in the 1st place. you could very well be going backwards also).

As one already mentioned, spacers on revups really don't do much unless you have one of the MREV lowers. In fact, getting a MREV would be a much better investment than swapping plenums/spacers.

I had my car tuned by Dave@Function Tuned using Uprev software so that would be a reflash.

Jeff-I understand all but again, the dyno test that everyone uses is outdated as stuff has changed...I bought the Kinetix used for $170 so that is not bad and maybe cheaper than the MD spacer.

I plan on dynoing the the Kinetix at the same time as the Skunk2 to see which one provides the best bang for the buck. Dsskyline and I are planning on renting a dyno for 2 hours to do a bunch of dyno testing to hopefully end some myths.

Look forward to the results but just to let you know the skunk is 10/16"m(5/8') right? That's 2x the thickness of the 5/16" spacer and still thicker than MD's thickest unit at 8/16". (1/2"). IMHO, the Kinetix might fair well against the Skunk but I doubt it would do well against the MD units. I remember Tony mentioning dynoing many different thickness spacers already.

I guess we all shall see. I know the guys at Kinetix claim the redesigned V+ has shown consistent gains onf 14+ whp over stock. and its throughout the whole power band. Regardless when i go to dyno tune. I'll take the manifold with me, and do a few runs with the spacer, and then put the manifold on, just to compare. Like GJ is doing.

350GT,

After you do all your dyno tuning with the spacer installed on your revup lower plenum, remove the 5/16" spacer and do another dyno set.

Within the margin of dyno error, you will find that you lose no power at all. ...The spacer has no effect on a revup lower plenum.

Try to do all your comparative testing after the tune and while still strapped down on the dyno.
