deleting the resonators?

Hey everyone, couldn't find an answer to this one. Has anyone ever just put in a strait pipe instead of simple replacing the midpipe on a sedan with the coupe's? (I have access to a shop, lift and mandrel bender) I'm not to worried about how loud it is and am thinking about deleting whatever resonators and mufflers are behind the cats and putting the Blitz Nur Spec axle back on...(will that fit a sedan) Think this would be worth any hp more or less than replacing a resonator with another? I know some cars respond better with more backpressure but ours seem to be like turbo cars. the faster you get the air in and out the more power you get.

I'm sure people have put straight pipe in place. As for the Blitz exhaust. It's designed for coupes but if you have access to the shop I don't see why you couldn't modify it to make it work. Alot of people with the sedans have been creative and have made coupe or universal type exhaust work on their cars.

I say do it and make a write up with lots of pics!

Removal of ANYTHING in the exhaust is beneficial...with the drawback being increased sound level ( which you said you didn't mind ) and increased RASP ( which 99% of people mind ). I removed my midpipe and the rasp is horrendous. I'm thinking about replacing it with something better flowing though ( stock midpipe shrinks in diameter ).

Hear ya, I'm in the procsess of getting another car, an 06 RWD 6SPD sedan so i've put these plans on hold but I do intend to build an exaust that just gets bigger on its way out. I can deal with few improper exaust tickets for my wall of shame...

This is a Newbie question but can someone explain "increased RASP" as posted above?

Sorta sounds like a vibration. almost like miniture backfires one after another after another till the air in the pipe starts flowing at a smoother rate. usually happens when you go from a larger pipe to smaller from front to back but not restricted to that. Still don't have my 6speed, its waiting for me though. hopefully this week. Really not to worried about the sound and we don't have any cops in my township, yeah i drive all over but they have to hear it to pull me over, not like i go buzzing cops but i am starting to see your points about the rasp. Really don't want to much of that. Maybe if i do an X right where the Y pipe comes together and rejoin them in the muffler I can avoid that. lot to think about.

Dont do it. It sounds horrible.

Removing the muffler would sound much better than removing the resonator.

I replaced the stock resonator with a magnaflow one and the oem sound is back but louder....I still have some rasp but it's because of my test pipes.

That sounds like something I might do. swapping the res. didn't even occur to me but sounds like a better idea.
