Re: Fujitsubo VS Stillen Exhaust

This discussion is a good example of why you shouldn't buy an exhaust based on other people's opinions. I was totally turned off by the gurgling of the B&B, and others feel exactly the opposite.

If you're in the DFW area and want to hear the Stillen on a 5AT sedan, let me know. I don't think a movie or sound clip are going to be enough to make the best decision.

Re: Fujitsubo VS Stillen Exhaust

IMO,

The Stillen adds more Ferrari in the exhaust note. (coupe)
Borla adds more Domestic V-8
Fujitsubo.... like stock, but more. Funky description.

btw: heard a Modena go by the house today, amazing noise. Makes the 911 following it sound like a leaky muffler. Nissan definitely had that exhaust note in mind when they designed the 350Z/G35C exhaust.

Sukarian,

Very precise comment about exhausts on G. About ferrari though, I heard Maranello 550 hammer it and it sounded crap. Take 4-banger buzzing fart can and multiply it by 4. The most amazing exhaust I've heard so far was Dianan on 02 M5. One word - AUTHORITY.

Re: Fujitsubo VS Stillen Exhaust

I have just had the Stillen installed last weekend. I am still living with it and told the shop to keep my old exhaust on hand until this wekend, just in cast I hate the Stillen drone. although I had my doubts at first, the interior drone seems to be subsiding quickly. I plan on adding some sound dampening to my trunk and will keep the exhaust. I od not notice any significant change to HP, but have been keeping off the throttle to keep the noise down. (PS I only have 600 mi. on the car to boot.)

cpwebb,

other stillen owners noticed that it quiets down significantly after 400-500 miles on it.

I would concur with that statement. It is quieter now than when first installed. I love the sound of my Stillen.

I can't decide to buy the stillen or the fuji exhaust. I want the performance from stillen but the quietness of the fuji exhaust. However, I have dynomatted my trunk and back seats and as of right now, I can barely even hear my stock exhaust. Does anyone know if you still get droning or if the new stillen exhaust is still too loud even with a dynomatted car?

dynomatted car (assuming that you did it properly) + stillen = not much droning from my experience

good luck hunting for a new exhaust

dynomatting the trunk did quiet my exhaust note a bit from inside the cabin. i have the Fujitsubo exhaust with everything else changed out in between also (which took the relatively tame Fuji exhaust to exactly where i wanted it, quiet when you baby it and aggressive when you're on it)...

Z-tube, Popcharger, MD 3/8" Plenum Spacer, TopSpeed Pro1 headers, Crawford cats, Fujitsubo Y-pipe, Fujitsubo Legalis-R exhaust.... sound clips here

as you can tell from listening to my clips there i also have a fair bit of gurgling and popping with my setup when you let off the gas, which i personally don't mind (actually kinda like it) but some might be annoyed with. i also get some drone resonating in the cabin at around 2500rpm, basically highway speed. as i mentioned above adding sound deadener (i used Second Skin Damplifier Pro) to the trunk helped some.
