You're right, we're suppose to help each other so here's some help:

1) CAIs don't make power. I've been on this site since 2004 and I've never seen one legit dyno that shows a CAI making power. The position of the filter allows it to ingest warmer air, stagnent air. You're also at a MUCH great risk of hydrolock.

2) Fact - the OEM intake is pretty much ideal in terms of power and driveability. It has more than enough capability to support the air requirements of a typical bolt-on VQ35.

3) There is no such thing as a "fuel injection upgrade". The OEM injectors are way more that capable of supporting the fuel requirements of a heavy bolt-on VQ35.

So there's your help. Save your money and buy mods that are more benefical. Plus you won't have to cut up your car.

An intake won't do much for you in terms of power. The "cooler" it sounds doesn't suggest it will work any better than anything else.

I suggest using YouTube.com to find out what all those intakes sound like.

The Stillen intake with the Z-tube will get you the sound you want. The gains, though, are questionable. Sometimes just the sound and the fact that it is an aftermarket part is enough for many people.

For the best overall driveability and some sound change, I'd say the Revup airbox and the Z-tube.

Your best bang for the buck would be the following:

Revup airbox $80 new
5/16 Motordyne spacer $150 to 225 used/new, 9whp/wtq
HR y-pipe $100 to 150 used, 5whp/wtq

The spacer will give you some induction noise and the y-pipe will give you some exhaust noise. All these mods have been covered in great detail in this section.

this barely even applies to use VQ35DE guys but just SOME food for thought.

you guys wanted dyno proof and there is it, yea its a whole other engine and platform. I'm not defending anything, i'm a z tube guy myself, No VQ35DE has done this exact type of dyno test to prove or reject Injen's claims. This was just something i found because i had a local guy post it and i googled it.

16whp is not a fluke. 3-5whp yea that can always be subjective but not 16whp. That intake kit was like $400 tho.
