Which Cold Ait Intake to Choose??

Okay guys im in the process of buying a CAI for my 06 G35 Coupe. I was just wondering which is a better CAI, Injen, AEM, HKS, or what others if you know any real good ones. Im probably going to go with the HKS but leave me some feedback on what you think. i need my fellow G bros help.

Thanks

Best performance: OEM rev-up airbox
Best noisemaker/engine bling: Arc airbox + Arc intake tube

Honestly, it's good advice. Intakes lose power for these cars, so if you're after performance and already have a rev-up G35, you are set. Otherwise, pick up an OEM rev-up airbox and a regularly changed paper filter (preferable to a K&N) for best performance.

I have the Arc stuff because I like to see shiny things when I open up my engine bay. It also makes a lot of noise and whistling while I get walked by Altimas, which I like as well. But I probably lose power due to it on a hot day or stop-and-go traffic.

Okay. once again sorry. i just looked at and through other fourms about the rev-up box and i check mine in my car and i have it already. Im just still confused how you would lose performance with an aftermarket.??

you mean when the metal piping gets hot from the engine and thus making the air that flows through it hot instead of cold???

Yes. In a nutshell, most aftermarket filters don't have proper insulation for the filter element. It's either not shielded at all from engine heat (Fujita) or has a flimsy piece of metal that doesn't do much (Popcharger). So heat soak is the major issue. There are also issues with turbulence and air flow in traditional long tube CAI's, but I'm sure some other members can better explain the exact mechanics.

Bottom line, don't buy an intake for performance, buy (or not) an intake for sound and looks.
