Next was the takeda back box with stock front, but instead of using their filter I used the apexi power intake.

Power went down to 254 and 226 tq and the A/F got rich so the tuner got the A/F to the same as the panel filter and it still made less hp and tq. He immediately said put the other one back he could tell the difference on the dyno.

I may try another test with the takeda filter, but I'm sure the results will be the same.

Now I'm wondering if I could of ran 12's with the stock intake instead of the stillen CAB back in Dec.

I will compare the 2 at the track this weekend if the weather holds.

Stock airbox is the best. These test were done with a 3in MAF housing. I'll try to get the sheet and post it up.
Interesting. I wonder how more tests we'll need before everyone finally believes the stock intake setup is the best way to go? Even though this is probably the best aftermarket intake setup we've so far, it still gets out performed by the stocker. Thanks for taking on this project.

I didn't mind doing the test the back box with filter was $130 from AFE. I wanted to try it because it utilized the stock airbox to fit a cone filter. Would of been nice to make a little more power while looking stock.

Custom Takeda air box from stock box on my G35 saving about 300 bucks. i could have cut the hole a bit bigger to fit all of the filter in the box but i'm sure it will be fine.

I did that with aem dry filter and the stock box. The angle in the box smashes the filter a little. The takeda back box does not have that angle and has room. I'll post pics later. The takers back box is $60 including the filter and couplings is $130. The price is $300 with the intake tube.

I have not. I bought a tranny from a guy on my350z, but it's taking so damn long to ship out. It should get picked up today if it wasn't picked up yesterday, then it has to make it's way to my neck of the woods. Everything is about a week behind schedule, but it should be pretty sweet once it's in the car.

What's your opinion on K&N drop in vs paper disposable filter?
