Dyno tested 5/16 spacer and R2C intake
Hey there everyone.. I had some mods installed and it didn’t turn out like I thought it would.. I got a 5/16 ISO thermal space and R2C intake. I went to Japtrix to have them installed since I can’t reach over far enough to do it myself. I also had it dyno while it was there. I was satisfied that with the install everything went well. I read on motordyne website that I “could” get a hp gain between 10 to 15 more hp to the ground. I was like hey that’s cool.. I check out the reviews on R2C intake and I knew I wasn’t going to get much gain out of the intake. Most people say 1 or 3 gains in hp with a CAI.. So I was like most gains will come from the spacer.

So here is the events of the day.
I got to the shop about 9:45 a.m. They put my car on the dyno to get a baseline before any of the mods were added. Side note Infiniti says the car has 272 hp or something close to that. So I was like that not bad, but what they don’t say the 272 is at the crank and not on the ground (rwhp). Hey ran the car for a minute to get it warm. Then they did 3 pulls, between each pull they let it cool for a minute. (see the dyno sheet below) I was
.

After the 3 pulls they gave me the results which were a lot lower than I was expecting. Roger then installed the spacer than went on with so problems at all. After that (I know I should have dynode the car after the spacer was installed, but I’m not made of money to rent the dyno all day long) the R2C intake was installed.. Everything went smooth again until roger was installing the last bracket by the breather/air box. Roger had to force it over some, but it got into place after a lil work.
Ok here is the big show I’m ready now to see how much power I have gain.. “gonna start racing cops now hehehe”. Start the car and a smile is on my face I was like “yea come on state troopers hehe” Did 3 pulls again and I’m like it sounds great.. Then I see the results and I was like what the muck!!!! For 400 (not including the install and dyno rate that was 300 alone) plus and this all the hp I can get. A GAIN of 9

So after I stopped crying heheh I asked Roger he said he thought I might get 12, but my BUTT dyno is loving it.. I asked, how can I get 250 on the ground and he said, change the exhaust and u might get close to it..
I’m not trying to bash any of these companies I’m just saying what happen to me and my 07 G35.
One thing I have notice is that the car seems to idle kinda high.. right over 1k rpms. Is that usual?

wat did you dyno? your dyno graph is really small and i cant read it.
The rating is 275hp at the crank. I'm pretty sure most people know that its not whp. i'm guessing you dynoed around 220 whp? that seems to be the range for 5AT.
Do not expect to get much modding N/A. Add in HFC/TP with an exhaust and a tune you could get 250+.

Images need a magnifier glass. Are you AT or 6mt? If 6mt you wasted your money on that spacer. If you are AT, what did you expect? To be hitting near 270hp?? Also if you researched what you bought, the md spacer isn't giving peak power but rather gives the power in the usable midrange which you should see if you compare your before and after dynos.

I thought I would at least get more gain.. at least 13 or something like that.
Baseline with no mods of any: 225 hp and 208 torque
with mods last run; 234 hp and 210 torque.
So adding and HFC and exhaust MIGHT give me 250?

I'm just trying to understand a lil better and i ready a bunch of threads. Maybe i just wasn't understanding some of the threads correctly..

You should of just forget the dyno lol. you could of saved some money :P
But yea Intake gives you nothing maybe 1-2 at top end which is not big enough to know for sure as its within the normal deviation. The spacer gives 7-9hp easy as the 2 back cyl get more air.

well yea you have a transmission inbetween the wheels and the engine. dynos do WHP not crank
Damn, $300 for a spacer and intake install + dyno? Kinda pricey....
Did they reset the ECU after the installs? It would explain why you're idling so high and why you didn't dyno a little higher. But as previously stated, it'll only get better once your ECU is accustomed to your new mods.
