Exclamation Exhaust problem

I tried searching for a solution but nothing. Hope you guys can help me out

So yesterday while my car was running in idle from a cold start (-15 C over here) I noticed fume was only coming out from ONE of the two exhaust tips on the sedans. Has this happen to anyone?

Much help appreciated

Fume? As in smell was coming out from only one? If so, how'd you figure it was only coming out of one when they're next to each other on the sedan lol.

Or fume as in the water steam (white smoke) was coming out from only one? If so, it could just be that water was in one of them, but not the other (or not enough to cause noticable steam). I know my G35 (coupe) sometimes had white smoke coming out of only one of them or sometimes both would release steam, but one would have a significantly more amount than the other. I wouldn't worry about it unless you hear or feel a difference in driving. If anything, something small might have gotten in the tip of the exhaust and is blocking the flow. Just rev the car and see if something pops out lol.

Exhaust leak. Might have a blown exhaust gasket somewhere. Cheap fix

Is this a 2nd gen sedan? I thought the 1st gen had a single muffler with dual tips. Therefore a blown gasket would likely affect both tips?

He didn't specify on year. He may or may not have a stock exhaust

The first gen sedan muffler has a flap in it that opens under heavier loads. This variable design improve throttle response and low-end power. It's the same design that was used on the R34 GTRs, most single muffler BMWs and Benz's.

Sorry, I meant the white smoke.

Well that's reassuring! So it's normal for our sedans during idle right?
