Shockwave V2 grounding strap question

I put on the Shockwave V2 over this past weekend, and noticed there is a grounding strap that used to be attached to the stock exhaust (near the muffler) that obviously there is no mounting point on the shockwave for. I've never really understood why the exhaust has to be grounded, but I remember my old Eagle Talon had one near the cat/con as well.

Is there anything wrong with not grounding the exhaust?

To the other Shockwave v2 owners (or other aftermarket exhausts that also do not provide for it), what did you do with the grounding strap? I had tucked it away and forgot about it until we had the car off hte lift, and I swear I hear it swinging around underneath the car and hitting the exhaust from time to time, and would like to do somethign with it .

I just intstalled mine and I just cut the grounding cable. From what I've read it is not really necessary to put on. I think there has to be some reason it's there from the factory, but I haven't noticed any ill effects from it not being attached.

I haven't seen an aftermarket exhuast that accounts for this or cares. I've never heard of any issues. Just remove the other bolt that holds it to the frame. No need to have it swinging around.

My X02 has a place to mount it on there, I did just for the heck of it but it has since come off (strap corroded through) and there hasn't been any difference.

Theres a thread somewhere on this. Supposedly the exhaust was grounded out to prevent electric from going through the metal and corroding it quicker. I have had mine off for awhile now with no ill effects.
