Just purchased a G35 - my upcoming build.

Hey Guys,

Long time listener first time poster.

I just bought a Pearl White Nissan 350GT 2004 Premium addition 5AT from Japan and am importing it to Australia as we speak. I found the car a lot harder to Import and more expensive since the Tsunami that devastated Japan a few months back. Originally I was looking for a 2005+ model 6MT REVUP with preferably black leather however as I found this was not easy to find.

I've been researching on the forums for a fair while now and have come up with the following build and thought I would throw it past all you smart people before committing to any part.

Pics of the car currently (Bad quality - all Japan supplied me when I purchased)

Build in Question:

Exterior:
Front Bumper: Duraflex Type G Front Bumper (http://www.duraflexbodykitstore.com/...nt-Bumper.html)
Side Skirt: Duraflex Wings Sideskirt (http://www.duraflexbodykitstore.com/...ideskirts.html)
Rear Bumper: Duraflex K1 Rear Bumper (http://www.duraflexbodykitstore.com/...ar-Bumper.html)
Hood: (Unsure about this still, thoughts?) Duraflex TS-1 Hood (http://www.duraflexbodykitstore.com/...52d1-Hood.html) Maybe paint the hood black to contrast with the rims / tint?
Wheels: Unsure about the wheels still. Will be a nice pair of 20 inchers. Possibly semi black. I've put $3000 AU aside for the tyres and rims and will be able to get a nice set with that money.

Performance Upgrades:
MD G35 & M35 MREV 2 Manifold (http://www.motordyneengineering.com/index.php?cPath=1_5)
MD G35 & M35 5/16" Iso Thermal plenum spacer (http://www.motordyneengineering.com/index.php?cPath=1_5)
MD G35 ShockWave))) TDX2 (http://www.motordyneengineering.com/index.php?cPath=1_6)
MD Advanced Resonance Tuning (ART test pipes) (http://www.motordyneengineering.com/index.php?cPath=1_6)
MD 350Z to G35 Exhaust Adaptor (http://www.motordyneengineering.com/index.php?cPath=1_7)
Sxexcxs Grounding Wire Kit (https://g35driver.com/forums/reviews...es-review.html)
Z-Tube and K&N Drop in Filter (http://www.g35parts.com/G35-Z-Tube-K...nztubespec.htm)

I know alot of these performance parts won't have as a big effect on the 5AT (Obviously non revup engine) But some is better than none I've seen different feedback on 5AT performance upgrades and my parts but i'm hoping to see around a 20 - 30 HP Increase? Also - I'm unsure about the difference with Right hand / Left hand drive cars, Will the same performance parts work on both? Im assuming the engine bay would remain the same regardless of the drive side but still want to make sure.

I'm also worried about the car running lean as mentioned in some posts. However if this happens i'll get the car tuned. Might tune it even if it doesn't run lean though.

Interior:
As you may have seen the car i purchased has no stock CD player. Therefore i guess i'll buy a D/Din system.
Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT (http://reviews.cnet.com/car-gps-navi...in;contentBody) Seems like the top of the line D/Din with everything you could ever want / need. Plus I like Pioneer

I've been researching these parts for a long time now. When I first stepped foot onto these forums i knew nothing more about cars than Need for Speed teaches you. I'll most likely get all these parts imported by Professionals as I don't wish to destroy my car.

If I have missed something or in anyway made myself look stupid please let me know. I hope this passes the first post test.

Let me know what you think about the build and whether or not I should go ahead with it.

The car in total (Including Import + Registration) Is approximately $22,500. All parts will gross to around $6,000 uninstalled. I'm still unsure about installation costs per part. If you think some part might be overly expensive to install compared to the price of the part please let me know.

Cheers heaps in advanced,
Sheldon.

Search the forums for body kit options...there are a lot better options in my oppinion than the ones you posted, & don't paint the hood black...you also left out any suspension upgrades...I would add swaybars, coilovers, strut bar etc on to the list. all the parts you posted up are self install the only things that may be hard to install are the manifold & spacer & that should run you a few hundred to install at the most.

Thanks for your reply. I'm unsure about suspension options but was looking into the MD swaybars earlier today. I was just looking for something quick and easy, some strap on horse power. At this point in time I don't plan on taking it on tracks therefore im unsure if a swaybar will be completely necessary. I never really looked into bodykits too much and to be honest Duraflex was the first website i bumped into. They just make it really easy to buy and import and seem very affordable.

^its not. You only get noticeable gains with a rev-up motor

Thanks for the feedback. There is some research to support the MREV2 still having some impact on a non REVUP engine. I believe i saw some dyno's a few weeks back on these forums to support this.

I know the gains won't be as high as a REVUP engine obviously. But if I wanna squeeze as much as possible out of an N/A engine I guess it comes down to the question is a minor HP increase (Possibly none) worth the money?

^The MREV2 will provide little gains on the non-revup. I would not suggest it unless money is not an issue.

Yeah. $485 US isn't 'that' expensive. Maybe I'll give her a miss if you think the gains will be so limited that its a waste.

depends if its worth it to you. 500 bucks for like a 5 hp gain after a tune? about 0 hp without a tune lol.

check out the chargespeed rear bumper. i think it has a cleaner and more subtle look then the kenstyle rear bumper.

Whoa - Chargespeed is amazing.

https://g35driver.com/forums/picture...sing-pics.html

Alot more $$$. But i guess i could drop the MREV and pick up this kit.

edit: Second thoughts - Maybe not. It looks amazing but I don't think id invest the extra money. Afterall - im in Australia and any car with a slight tint is considered 'sick' I think the Kenstyle would work fine here.
