Fujistubo exhaust and Y-pipe

I'm thinking of buying a Fujitsubo exhaust for my Coupe 6MT. Where can it be purchased from at a good price?

What is the purpose of the "Y-pipe"? Is that optional or required?

It's expensive everywhere. I got mine from performancenissanparts.com

Well all y pipes pretty much look the same. The only real difference will be the internal diameters, the routing and how the collector comes together. I believe that the Fuji is the only one that uses a crosstube balancer though.

Well... I agree that there is NO other aftermarket y-pipe that looks exactly like the Fujitsubo, however I disagee that all y-pipes pretty much look the same. JIC and top secret y-pipes look much different than the "rest" of the y-pipes. Don't forget that some of the aftermarket y-pipes are solid and some have flexures built in. Personally I liked the JIC the best, that's why I bought one.

JIC Y-pipe and Fujitsubo exhaust

Any one with the JIC Y-pipe and Fujitsubo exhaust together? Because I have Fujitsubo now I want to get JIC Y-pipe to make it sound slightly meaner. Does anyone have suggestions?

Hey etang789,

Why not the Fujitsubo Y-Pipe. Since you already have the Fuji exhaust. There shouldnt be a sound difference from the JIC Y-pipe compared to the Fuji Y-Pipe. But either way which ever one you go with you will hear the difference from stock and let me know if you need some prices. Thank you

because IMHO I think JIC y-pipe has a better design than fujitsubo y- pipe seems like it is a more direct flow and when the two pipe meets JIC seems to have a less bottle neck...any inputs?

I was inclined to go with the y pipe that was designed for the exhaust. I have the Fuji and it works great.

The JIC looks like it has a cleaner path, but the Fuji features a crosstube equalizer. You can't really tell if one is better than the other unless you put them both on a flow bench.

etang and roneski are BOTH RIGHT.

I don't have a flow booth, but have taken Fluid Dynamics I and II, and from what I've learned, fluids (air included) like to flow in the most straight forward path. The Fujitsubo Y-Pipe has TWO 90 degree bends, where the JIC Y-Pipe has TWO 150 degree bends. The closer the bends are to 180 degrees, the better.

Don't get too caught up in Y-Pipes. They are good for MAYBE 5rwhp. So is the darn Z-Tube and that only costs $80. If you want to spend $500 or so for a good mod, look into high flow cats or a plenum. If you want to double that for double the gains, look into the Crawford headers, but don't get too caught up in y-pipes.

Sincerely,
"The Grinch" I killed Rudolph!!!
