I have been RicoG35X, in not sure but pretty much sold on it. From reading the post i pretty much no it will add useful power. Just don't like the install. I have had headers on a couple of my vehicles and over time they leaked. I just don't want the noisy ticking sound coming from under the hood of my car.

understood... the install isn't too bad.. just get the torque pattern down and use a torque wrench.. LOTS of aluminum to be stripped if not careful! if you're just doing the spacer and not the iso-thermal or copper iso-thermal.. it's about a 30 minute job... hardest part is getting the upper half of the plenum up and out of the way while you get the hardware in place, then it all sandwiches back together, re-torque all the nuts and bolts, rest the ECU.. and take her for a spin around the loop!

Here's a sweet link on a DIY video on this mod!

I have seen the dynos on the website and seen lots of testimonials from members that say they could feel a difference. I just wonna make sure this is not like an intake change that fooled most of us for years thinking they added power to our cars. My car is a daily driver and out of warranty so unless it's a meaningful change i won't do it. If I do it will be the 5 1/6 for sure. Im on the fence here guys? help me out.....
These are not at all like the CAI's. Plenum spacers actually work on this engine. And you will notice that Motordyne doesn't sell an intake for this car either. This is because we figured out a long time ago that intakes don't work. In fact, some can be very counterproductive. And that is why we dont make CAI's.

As for installation, this is about one of the easiest modifications that can be done on the car short of a CAI. You don't need a lift like an exhaust. And its not really an engine mod where you have to dig into the block, cams, valves or pistons. Its a simple plenum mod. Just open the plenum like a clam shell, slide in the spacer, bolt it back down and your'e done. ~1.5 hours by yourself.
Easier if done with a friend. (a 6 pack usually helps too)

I have the same question too. Is there any harm if we dont unplug the battery? Besides, does the spacer really improve our gas mileage as the vendor claimed it will? Thanks

If you don't unplug the battery, then you musn't unplug the throttlebody harness.
If you do you will get a cel and possibly have to do the throttlebody reset procedure.

Its just more work.

We don't make any such claim up or down. It has not been measured.

plenum spacer

I'm a newb. Picked up my 03 g35 loaded sport coupe about a year ago. Long story short: dumb ars clerical gal at my office was trading it in on a prius and the dealer was giving her $3500. I intercepted with $4500 cash and she was thrilled...not as much as I; love the 6 speed manual and Brembo brakes.

At any rate, I added a 5/8 spacer because it was cheap ($90 free shipping). Very easy mod. You do not have to drain the coolant or disconnect those lines. My engine cover fits fine, with no mod.

IMHO the increase in power is minimal. I had no increase in MPG. I drive the same route to work and get a nice 21.6 MPG on mid grade fuel (half freeway/ city) before and after adding the spacer. The upper intake and filter parts are noticeably cooler to the tough after the spacer addition and throttle body coolant tube block (homemade)

BTW, I have also had all the familiar problems as most: right door lock inop; overheat (not thermo), CD stuck; a/c-bose stereo cut out. These have been easy fixs and I will try to post my solutions (I know, I know: "do a search" this is not a forum but rather a library...Shhhhh!)

BTW, I also have a Lotus which I autox and track routinely. I autox'd the G but found it has a lot of body flex and would need some serious bracing to improve and prevent panel misalignment and contortion. Seen a few Gs with jacked up body alignment from severe corning after coilovers, bigger swaybars, and sticky tires.

My bad I should have chosen the word correctly. It's not the "vendor" whom claimed the spacer increase gas mileage. It's just someone trying to sell their used spacer that had given better gas mileage.
