Do not buy the Injen CAI if you have a 6mt
Okay, I spoke to the vice-president of Injen just now. He said that he has already emailed all their distributors to stop selling the Injen intake for the 6mt. I know the intake is the same for the 6mt and auto, so if you have already purchased one. Return it immediately and do not install it. If you have already installed one and are not experiencing any problems, I would still advise you to take it out. Because Injen will not be held responsible if you lose control of your car at 80mph. Another thing that Ryan from Injen said that I found interesting, is that cars like the IS300 and ford focus experienced this problem also, what they did was change it to a smaller filter and relocate the MAF on the intake.

Interesting stuff! Does this mean that it is absolutely and without a doubt not a problem on the automatic tansmission equipped cars. I just ordered the Injen last week for my auto sedan.

Go to the dealer and request an alpha reading at idle rpm's... They can do it with their OBDII consult tool.
A normal stock car should read 98%... If it is higher then 110%, the engine is running too lean and may cause problems in the future. My alpha reading came to 138% with the Injen.

I think it is refering to the Manual Transmission in general regardless of coupe or sedan.....
I have sent Injen an email asking what is going on with the auto transmission....

Don't INJEN test drive the car, before selling those INTAKE's?
If there's a prob. then WHAT's up with the 350z 6MT?

What are the exact reasons?
with most aftermarket intakes, the placement of the MAF is very important to read correctly and not lean out the engine. Most of the problems occur when a MAF comes too close to a bend in the tube. I have seen many people do thier own intake and dont consider this while designing it. The MAF is very important because it tells your ECU how much air it is getting and when the air does not flow over it correctly, the MAF will read low and compensate by leaning out the fuel mixture because it "thinks" it is not getting as much air.
