Noob question. Louder stock sound?

So I like the sound that the stock exhaust makes but I find it too be quiet unless I'm in the 2500-3500 rpm range. I basically want to keep the stock sound but want it to be deeper and louder.

From what I understand unless I'm wrong, is that getting high flow cats will do exactly that? I was thinking of getting a Fast Intentions HFC. I'm not looking to really get any gains but just want the sound with out spending a lot. I see I can FI HFC for about 350. Is this the best way to achieve that sound I want?

HFCs will make the car just a little bit louder at those RPM's and youll get a bit more power too. I think the Nismo exhaust would be ideal for what you are lookin for as far as sound goes but thats about 1200$ as where I got BERK HFC's for like 450$

I'm in the same boat as you with my wife's 03 sedan. We had test drove a 07 sedan before we bought her's . The 07 had a little bit louder exhaust that we both liked. I already bought a G tube, thinking about getting the HR-y pipe and welding in a can style resonator in place of the 03-04 style monster resonator. I will possibly get the 5/16 spacer and a velocity stack style intake and being me I will port and polish the intake as well. Hope it doesn't get too loud for the wife. I drive her car quite a bit when I'm not out of town for work.

I am thinking about getting one of those cheap ebay y-pipes and welding in a 3" to 2.5" ss reducer that Vibrant Performance at the beginning of the midpipe to keep the exhaust from being raspy. I think that would have better performance benefits than the HR y pipe by keeping the beginning of the exhaust as large as possible, that is where the exhaust gas is the hottest and most expanded. People on the 300zx forums have started to do this realizing they can make the same power with a quieter exhaust.

I think high flow cats might be more than what you are looking for.

I have rev up box, 5/16 md spacer, mrev2, hr headers, fast intentions hfc, hr y pipe and oem exhaust with an old Osiris tune. I currently am waiting on new gaskets as I didn't realize hr headers use different ones. I will let you know how it sounds with new gaskets, right now I am leaking air out on wot.

However, the car sounds great with the hr and hfc! It amplifies the G roar at 3k and much better tq imo
