Intakes and AF Mixture

Hey guys & girls,
I just bought an 06 G35 coupe with a rev up motor. I have done a lot of research and I am ordering a Motordyne MREV2 lower plenum, either a Stillen short ram(w/box) or induction, and I already have my Motordyne 5/16" spacer. Has anyone tested to see if this makes the VQ run lean or will my OEM MAF sensor correct the mixture with those mods?

You'll be running a little lean if you're still on the stock exhaust and the ECU won't be able to compensate. If you add an exhaust and/or HFC/test pipes you'll be running dangerously lean and would need a custom tune like Osiris to fix your AFR.

Yep you definitely need a tune. Just remember that at high RPMs you run the risk of knock and detonation that can seriously damage your engine.

Is there not any cheaper way than the Osiris Tuner? I just checked and that ish is $699 for my rev up. What about just the MREV2 Lower plenum and spacer with a stock intake with z tube, still lean? I hate that just 2-3 mods make it run too lean for the ECU to compensate I really just want it to be reliable and not have problems. I want to do it the right way and keep the car from having problems especially at higher RPMs.

That setup will run a bit lean but unless you throw exhaust and replace the cats with hfc or especially test pipes, your car will be just fine without a tune. One other thing, when or if you decide to get a tune, its best to get it Dyno tuned at an uprev licensed shop, should be cheaper then 699 and your gains will be maximized.

Will a Jwt short ram, polished z tube, Megan racing resonated test pipes, 02 sensor extenders, and cat back exhaust. I'm dangerously lean? Crap!!!

So looking at this thread its safe to say with the following mods i would be running quite lean without a tune on my 05 coupe

Alphawerks headers
FI exhaust
FI test pipes
Mrev2
Spacer
ztube

If i keep it in the lower rpm range i should be fine though?

You will be running like dick and won't be getting half the performance you should be. You need a tune.

Just check up on this thread
