First air filter change. Was this too dirty?

This was the first time changing my air filter in my car (that I know of). Taking a look at it, was it "too dirty" and should have been changed earlier, or is this about "average dirtiness", if there is such a thing?

Car is an '06 5AT G35

Damn was that last changed in 06 its starting to fall apart!!!

Supposed to be changed after every oil change (hopefully you are doing that)

Get yourself a K&N or Amsol panel filter that you can clean and reuse.

You changed it too early. You could have driven it for at least another 5000 miles. Save the blue one and put the other one back in!

uhhhh.. after EVERY oil change?

unless you are doing 1yr/12k oil change intervals, you are wasting your filter..

or an AVERAGE car.. 1yr/12k miles is good schedule to use.
