Need help with some exhaust questions!!! Motordyne exhaust vs. HKS vs. ARK
I'm about to purchase an ARK grip true dual exhaustt for my 05 g35 . Would I have to purchase after market headers as well? And is this a good exhaust in yall opinion? I want the motordyne exhaust but just can't afford it.
Welcome to DRIVER and no you don't need headers. ARK exhaust isn't bad for a knock off of that famous HKS system. I have a better idea....save your $$ until you can afford one of Motordyne's exhaust systems. Never settle for a replica when there's the possibility of getting what you want 6 months from now, you'll be so glad you did! Since you're new here MicntaeG35 you need to read all the stickys at the top of the coupe page, knowledge is power! When you have questions use our SEARCH, all the questions you can imagine have already been answered. Good Luck & Save your $$

No need for headers early on in your build, maybe later but nothing to worry about now. Consider upgrading to High Flow Cats (HFCs) or test pipes while you're doing whatever exhaust you get. Upgrading / bypassing the stock cats will remove the main bottleneck in the stock system.
I'd also second what Gary said about saving for the Motordyne and spending some time searching. The Ark's gotten some decent reviews but I don't hear the same love for it you get from the Motordyne guys, and I don't think the price is that significantly different that the MD is out of reach if you're already into Ark pricing. The Ark grip is around $1400 or something isn't it? You're not far off MD pricing at all. I'd wait.

MicntaeG35, most of the restriction in our exhaust system is in the OE cats, after the exhaust install HFCs would be the next natural mod. However I'd opt for a Motordyne spacer before the HFCs to correct Nissan design error in the plenum. Also, you can listen to all the exhaust vids in the world but they're only as good as the cheap Wallmart systems they're recorded on. Attend a few meets and experience what systems really sound like....Gary
Yah, definitely get some experience with them in person (and in car while driving as a passenger if you can). Youtube and the like will give you the tone / musicality of an exhaust if that's the right way to say it... but you won't pick up on things like in cabin drone, which is something you'll have to live with.

No^^^. Nothing will pass unless its is CARB legal....which I think ART pipes and the like are not. Put it to you this way, unless you take the car to the dealer, you cant even order normal cats to be shipped. No company (that I have found anyway) will ship cats to Cali. It sucks

That's pretty much what I figured. But there are still people there who say HFC will pass.
If they don't check for them then maybe, if you pass the sniffer you're in the clear.

Well with this being said, what would be better, HFC or test pipes. I would like to get a deeper but louder sound but I don't want the shitty "rice burner honda" sound lol
Motordyne exhaust
I'm trying to get a motordyne tdx v2 exhaust for my 05 g35 (exhaust, ART pipes and xyz pipe). Can anyone help me find the lowest price possible. I've seen so many and some are outrageous. I don't wanna spend $2400 when I could get it much cheaper
