Exhaust Guros, School me on some X-pipes
What's so great about them? Why do people buy them? I have a True Dual, what would the advantage be to me?
Are they just sound or does something scientific go on in that sexy X-section?
I highly doubt there's anything more than sound difference in them, but I figure I'd ask.

X pipes scavange exhaust from each set of exhaust pipes. Improving torque, hp and sound. I ran a borla true dual with my old sedan and added a resonated Magnaflow X pipe. Reduced the DRONE by quite a bit and improve the torque/hp a bit.

Thank you for the response. Please clarify as to what you mean by "Scavenge exhaust from each set of pipes"
True dual = two 3 cylinder exhaust systems
X pipe = Brings those two systems together to work like a 6 cylinder
Here's my write up on my borla install and the x pipe install later on. ie.. page 3 gets to the x pipe stuff

I know the difference between the two, I'm pretty mechanically inclined.
So what I gather from your post, and again thank you for posting, is that the X-pipe does a better job in true dual systems to equalize pressure between both banks. In other words if for some reason your exhaust pressure is 3psi from 1/3/5 and 2.5psi from 2/4/6, the should, in theory, be brought to 2.75 each while keeping smooth exhaust flow and no dramatic changes in exhaust gas.
Thanks again!

X pipe or H pipe will help a dual exhaust that doesn't have any connecting pipes. I both hp/torque and drone reduction (if you use a resonated version)

I don't know the sound comparisons on a G35, but with mustangs people often say X-pipes give you a racier high pitched sound and you make more power in the higher rpms vs. an H-pipe that gives a deeper, lower tone with more hp/tq at lower rpms
