Drone
Drone
My 04 sedan has a stock exhaust and the drone is bad.
Would the z tube and coupe midpipe fix it?
Saw some Z tubes on ebay for about $70.
Having issues locating a coupe midpipe. Where could I find an affordable option.
Thanks in advance for all the guidance.

Have you checked the exhaust for leaks? Drone on a stock setup usually indicates a failure point (or multiple)
A ztube will make the sound slightly louder, it will not change the fact that you have drone.
The advantage of the coupe midpipe is basically weight savings due to a smaller resonator ...small resonator also increases the sound...now this MAY have an effect on the drone if your seals on your current midpipe are broken etc but as a "fix" it's not going to have much effect again unless, as I mentioned, your current midpipe is damged.

Coupe midpipes can be found in our Marketplace, Craigslist, Infiniti/Nissan dealerships, on-line parts stores, etc. In other words a TON of places and if you pay $70 for a Z tube you got ripped off.

I do have a lot to learn. That is why I am here.
I had a Altima V6 that I got 200k out of, so I got wanted the same VQ same engine.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Did the exorcism for rattles, but it is still annoying. Other than that I am very pleased after about 15k.

I currently have this exhaust leak, and it drones VERY badly. I need to fix it.
Sadly, it sounds pretty decent when i drive in manual mode. I almost enjoy my exhaust leak at times.

^^Interesting, didn't know a leak could cause drone like that. I stand corrected on my comment and apologize for getting on you OP.
I second the leak explanation. I had a drone in my exhaust and it didn't take me long, looking up at the exhaust system while on a lift and running, to figure out where exhaust was coming from. I could feel it on the front flange of the mid pipe .
If you end up looking for the leak yourself just be careful and do it in a well ventilated area. The leaking exhaust could be fairly hot and certainly won't be healthy to breathe.

Will check it out when this dang rain stops.
Well a stock exhaust in good shape shouldn't drone, so you were right about that.
This however drones like a ****

It doesn't sound like a typical exhaust leak though, just sounds louder, has a little purr to it and drones.
But I gotta fix it soon, the drone is starting to annoy me. Can't find an exhaust shop I trust.
If you can get z-tube for less than$70 I will take one!
