HELP! Exhaust Dilema

Here's my situation...I'm installing ART pipes and a catback exhaust on my G at the moment. I've got the entire exhaust off the car...one problem....the 2 nuts connecting the y-pipe and mid pipe are rounded.

Does anyone know the name of the bracket preventing me from dropping the entire exhaust? What is it's purpose? Can it be removed?

Hacksaw isn't working so I'm all out of ideas. Heading to Harbor Freight to buy a reciprocating saw now but hoping my forum pals can help me out.

Any suggestions???

Thanks for the reply Frankie. How tough is it to remove and should it be removed?

It's officially called a "tunnel stay." Yes it can be removed, just put it back when you're done.

I'd just saw the stock exhaust since you're replacing it anyway.

Good luck, post up pics and a vid when you're done.

I'm not getting anywhere with this saw. The car is only a foot off the ground and the angles are impossible. Have you removed this tunnel stay before? It looks like this may be my only option

UPDATE***

Tunnel stay is off. Took 10 minutes max. Wish I would have figured that out before I did all those unspeakable things to my oem ypipe. More to come...
