Should I Y-Pipe or no?
The y-pipe on its own will yield marginal gains. HR y-pipe will not give 7-9rwhp gains. You may feel a slight difference on the butt dyno or in throttle response, but it won't give you major gains. I had an aftermarket HR-style 2.5 to 3-inch y-pipe with my Greddy SP2 exhaust system and Fast Intentions resonated test pipes. I didn't feel too much of a gain with the entire setup, and there was a bit of rasp to the sound too. Then I switched to a resonated XYZ pipe and the rasp nearly went away. Can't say in terms of performance but I'm sure it wasn't anything phenomenal. I must say though, Motordyne products are top of the line in terms of R&D so I'm sure Tony knew what he was doing with the XYZ pipe.
In short, I wouldn't spend $400 for a y-pipe alone. But I should say that it did help with the sound of the exhaust and is a high quality product. Since you also have test pipes, the resonator in the XYZ will help remove some of the rasp that comes with test pipes. So it's totally up to you, I've given my two cents.
