Question Intake Opinion!

All those running 1/2 in spacer, Z tube, and Pop Chargers! Let me know your experience, good or bad, with this set up. Ready to make this purchase, talk me into, or out of it!

Sikki, only negative on the 1/2" spacer is you lose the ability to use your engine cover. Fact is the 5/16" spacer works better a low rpms which is better overall! Z-Tube changes the sound and gives a more direct path for incoming air. Pop chargers will cost you whp the minute it gets warm, called "Heat Soak!" Our VQ motors love cool air, give them hot air and you'll notice it immediately! Z-Tube and a quality drop in filter like K&N or AMSOIL, that's all you need for a good sound and increased air flow...Gary

My plenum cover works with my 1/2 Motordynes spacer. Sikki buy the pop charger combo that comes with the heat shield because that bich will get hot without it. I have the the setup that you're asking about and it sound awesome! And since it helps out in the high rpm range the gains to my buttdyno are very noticeable when I'm drive with the manual **** mode of my coupe

There's not a "Heat Shield" made that will keep you from losing whp with an open cone filter! Stillen's CAI uses an composite enclosure that does a fair job which is my backup intake because it carries a CARB sticker. I've never seen anyone with a 1/2" spacer run a OE engine cover (I tired) and you sure couldn't be running a upper strut bar!

Thanks Gary! Z Tube w/factory and drop in it is, now the only uncertainty is 1/2 vs 5/16 spacer. Motordyne does claim cover does fit with 1/2, just not the factory tower brace. Now you say low end power is better with 5/16? Where can I read more on this?

z-tube with a drop in K&N filter and 5/16 spacer is a nice touch. There's a noticeable power gain and tone. Also with the spacer I have enough room to use my gt spec tower brace

Motordyne spacers and see what they have to say about them. We used to have a graph that showed where the whp/torque kicked in, it was a few 100 rpms lower with the 5/16" spacer. I went with the 1/2" because I love higher rpms and the feel of it all...Gary

Motordyne spacers ftw. I can say from experience that they increase the fun. the z tube is all noise, but I'm not saying that thats a bad thing. pop chargers...just...no.
