The noise started not too long ago. I knew the exhaust was rusting so I assumed that was the problem. Installed the M2 y-pipe and Magnaflow. Noise is still there. Cleaned the MAF and air filter (JWT pop charger) - noise still there. What is it??? Cold or warm I can hear it when no gas is applied.

 

Sounds good for just a y-pipe exhaust! I don't hear exactly what you're hearing! You may want to take it to a qualified mechanic and have him put gauges on your engine. Make sure that intake filter is totally clean not close to the intake sensor...Gary

 

Thanks Gary. The best I can explain it is that it's not smooth, there's this random knocking/banging sound. It sounds higher pitched from the outside than the deep rumble of the exhaust.

 

FYI, the noise was the fuel pump. Got a new pump and entire assembly and the noise is gone.
