by the book - yes. infiniti can say that because you changed what the ecu is reading (sensor at the end of the cat) it changed this huge mathematical formula that it makes every nanosecond. that's a little too far, but you get the point. actually, the only mod infiniti can not do anything about is from the cats back. everything else, is up for grabs. anything before the sensors is a no-no. i'll keep that in mind when i swap out my cams.

but it really comes down to - will the cats adversely affect the engine, causing an investigation to occur - probably not, and even if it did, it would most likely not be the cause of the problem, so it wouldn't void that aspect of your warranty.

i hope this helps.

6969 - yes they let the engine breathe. but. are you going to tell the dealer you made an improvement that the nissan engineers overlooked? they met the emissions standards with the setup they designed. everything else was designed around those standards. basically, if you change how the engine is running, it gives them an excuse to say "hey, you messed with a perfectly good engine". i'm not against modding (check sig), but just reminding that these mods may come with a hefty price.

endless g - yes, cat-back. anything after that, is what infiniti left open to mod, y-pipe, b-pipe (mid-pipe), and rear section. anything before it, cai, plenum, pulleys, cams, headers, f/i, cats, etc... use at own risk. even if you've demonstrated that you've removed your plenum to look inside, and then have outside materials inside your engine, they can say it's because of something you introduced. whether or not it would hold up in court is a different reason. just saying, that nissan/infiniti are not mod friendly like scion (subdivision of toyota).

all of these mods are always open to interpretation. it does depend on the dealer to determine whether or not to categorize them under the warranty, but if infiniti corporate gets involved, the policy is black and white. lets say this one guy at the dealer hooks you up, and says 'yeah, we'll put those on, and honor your warranty' and he gets fired for whatever reason, then next guy can leave you and your 'warranty' hanging.
