Re: Sedan Owners - Catback Exhaust Systems
Status of Stillen G35 Sedan's dual catback exhaust system as of this morning. The latest version of the system is now installed on their marketing manager's sedan (there are two G35 Sedan owners at Stillen). Fine tuning for the "right" balance of exhaust note and performance continues. Rumor has it that the system should be available by late September or so.
While that really wasn't what I wanted to hear, I do appreciate the fact that Stillen is taking the time to get the Sedan's system "right". I'm willing to wait a little longer even though I'm not normally a patient person.

Well from what I know
BORLA will be working on the Sedan exhaust. INJEN has been working on one for quite sometime, and as you know STILLEN has their version.
It will be interesting to see who releases one first. But its good to see that we have 3 cat back systems coming for the sedan

Yuichi,
It's great that we'll have more choices in Sedan exhaust systems.
To date, the Sedan's "got no respect" from the aftermarket companies. Sedan's get the parts that, by chance, just happen to fit from those developed for the Zs and Coupes. With few exceptions, most performance equipment is being adapted for the Sedan well after it's been made available for the Zs and Coupes.
I understand economic reasons why and am very thankful that we'll have more choices in the near future, including these exhaust systems and ECU upgrades.
There's one post a while back that indicated Strickly Z had a plan to build and/or offer the components necessary to build a serious G35 Sedan. Can you shed a little light on that concept.
Thanks,
DaveO

Yes I can give you a little insight. We are working on a Project G35 Sedan that we will be doing mainly bolt on mods to see how far we can push the Sedan power envelope
Obtainable things that anyone can do here, and review these mods as well. Stay Tuned

Re: Sedan Owners - Catback Exhaust Systems
Anybody know if there is a way to improve the exhaust to gain HP and just as importantly, torque? Since a full exhaust replacement would eliminate the stock exchaust backpressure valve, I am worried that a less restrictive exhaust will decrease torque at lower RPM. These engines are known for torque and I do not want to give any up just for a small HP increase at 6000+ RPM's.
Re: Sedan Owners - Catback Exhaust Systems
Don1, I hear ya. Do know that while the sedan does have the variable capacity muffler system. The coupe does not have it and it's torque curve's do not suffer for it. My advice to you is to NOT buy any system unless you see a dyno chart that covers the full rpm range, starting at least 1500 rpm's. That way you'll know if they maintained the low end or gave it away for peak power.

Thanks Yuichi,
I'm looking forward to seeing Strickly Z's mod plan for the G35 Sedan. I'm sure it will be very interesting and well done.
don1,
I share your concerns regarding the loss of low and mid range torque. Within reason, I prefer an increase in torque over HP and a higher average torque/HP increase over big HP gains at redline.

Re: Sedan Owners - Catback Exhaust Systems
I spoke w/ Adam yesterday and got the impression that all tuning issues have *finally* been resolved to management's approval, and that the R/D beta testing phase is now OVER. They appear very near actual production and *yikes* pricing. Info is tight out of HQ, and Stillen will not release any performance results until they can put the actual retail production system on the dyno but, hopefully, Adam will post a more informative "official" update soon.
