Deciding on an Exhaust

Ok, I'm thoroughly confused as to how to decide on an exhaust (04 Coupe M6). I've been trying to read, but I'm really not much of a car guy (more of a science guy), so it's hard for me to read critically.

I'd like to do the exhaust at some point in the near future but I really don't know what to go with. At this point all I know is that I won't be going with Borla since I'm not a fan of there being so many pieces. From reading it seems that

Injen SES
Stillen
HKS

are good choices. How would you recommend I go about deciding on an exhaust system?

I like the stock sound, but I know a guy with the injen exhaust and when he lets it rip it sounds pretty sweet.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you considered the Nismo? It is the one I'm looking at.

No, I haven't, but again, I'd have no real expertise in determining why to go with that one over any of the others mentioned.

Why are you considering the Nismo over anything else?

If you like the stock sound I would go for the Nismo or the Fujitsubo. I'm going for the Invidia G200 b/c it is a dual system and it adds 10-11 WHP to the top end, where the VQ needs it most (if you search you will find a dyno sheet for an 5AT G35C).

I like the quality of the stock sound but would prefer a louder sound, with more grumble to it.

Invidia ... another one to add to the list. What does VQ stand for (and OEM for that matter)

oem = original equipment manufacture... VQ does not stand for anything I believe, it's just a model #

I would choose the HKS Hi Power Ti... its the nicest looking and sounding imo. The Greddy I have is pretty good too, but if I was looking for new the HKS would be top choice. If you go FI its a different story...

Eledin. You said you want stock sound with more grumble. Being that I have had the Injen I would steer away from it because it does not sound stock at all and it is very loud when you do any other exhaust mods such as headers and cats. I now have the Fujitsubo Legalis R with the headers and cats and it sounds like a lower toned and slightly louder version of the stock exhaust. If you do alot of highway driving and dont want the annoying constant drone in your cabin then you should definately not go for the Injen. Once again the Fujitsubo is very tame and quiet while cruising on the highway until you mash the gas then she rips. My vote goes to the Fujitsubo over the Injen. As for the other exhausts, I know nothing about them. Happy modding!
