Intake mods on a budget
Intake mods on a budget
Not to beat an already flogged topic, but could you G35-heads please check my logic on this. It seems to me that the G35 already comes with a stock Power Duct cold air intake system. I figure it's reasonable to assume that, with a K&N filter, I could get even better flow through the system. it also strikes me that the 350Z Inlet Duct could replace the stock baffled duct for even better air delivery. Wouldn't the combination of the K&N filter and 350Z duct give me better performance than the stock setup for about $125, as opposed to a whole CAI system from Blitz/Injen? I'm sure the gains wouldn't be as great, but wouldn't this be a nice performance improvement for about half the price of an aftermarket product?

Didn't I answer you on another forum? This is exactly what I did on my coupe, and I couldn't be happier. The only other mod I'm doing to the intake is a Crawford Plenum, that is on order. The intake flows better, sounds better, and has more power. I also believe that the Z intake is just about perfect. I don't really believe the aftermarket guys will flow any better. You are doing the right thing.

What is a Crawford Plemun? I am reconsidering my near purchase
of the Stillen CAI. My 350Z duct will be delivered very soon I'm
told by Jayson. I have the K&N filter in my stock CAI. If the 350Z
addition makes a big difference, I might just forget the Stillen CAI.

I am also considering a new intake. More details on this would be great.

You can order the duct from Nissan - either online or from your local dealer. I've read some other posts where you can get one from nissanwholesaleparts.com for about $81 plus shipping. My local dealer is asking $101.

lowrider - yeah, that was me on the g-owners site. Sorry for the dual post, but I was trying to get as much info as I could, as quickly as I could. Speaking of info - did you install the tube yourself? If so, can you give me any installation tips?

The tube is a piece of cake to install. Took me all of 15 minutes. Two hose clamps on each end of the tubes (old and new) and there's a hose on the top of the G35 tube that mounts to the bottom on the Z tube (at the plenum end). That's all there is to it.
