Air Filter

I'm looking to change my stock air filter on 06 coupe. After reading the threads, I see that oiled filters may cause MAF sensor problems. As far as air filtration, should I get K&N, Nismo, or keep the stock air filter.

if you have to change it go with K&N, if not keep it stock.

do I have to worry about the oil sticking to the insides of the tube? I wouldn't re-oil it, I would just buy a new K&N.

Try the Amsoil EA Nanofiber filter.

EAA74 is the part number and you can order it right off their site.

It's an oil-free filter that is supposed to be equivalent to the flow rate of the K&N but have far far superior dirt-trapping and retention capabiliites, and it's also cheaper. The fact that it's oil-free means that it also won't screw up your MAF sensor.

I'm not too sure about the repeated effectiveness of the reusable amsoil filter. The oem filter is one time use but at least I know it is 100% effective at trapping dirt every time I pop in a new one.. with any reusable filter I always have the fear that perhpas its filtering effectiveness might be damanged by me trying to clean it...

I would really like to use the amsoil filter but I'm scared..someone encourage me.

. . . You know you want to try it. You won't rest until you do. Come on . . . DO IT and DO IT, NOW!

Okay, how was that for encouragement? Happy New Year . . . Cheers!

well i know it'll be effective right away and at least for as long as the oem filter.. but after the first cleaning, I doubt it will be as effective as it was when it was new... this whole thing about being able to keep the air filter in for 25k as opposed to the standard 12k... I don't know.. I know that just as much dirt will go through it.. I don't follow how a used air filter could be more effective than a fresh new oem air filter (changed every 12k)

Exactly, that is why I had an extra K&N drop-in filter. I am going to try the Amsoil filter and see how it goes.

How long have you been waiting for the axle nuts? I think my wait was almost some 2 months. Hang in there, they'll show up. The new bolts have made a big difference.

Tonight, the wife and I are having dinner at McCormick & Kuleto's over by Aquatic Park. Simple and uncluttered this year. After that we'll see if we can get into any of the local bars and wait for the fireworks down on the Embarcadero.

Have a safe evening . . . Happy New Year n Cheers!

So how good is the amsoil air filter??

I have the K&N right now but want a dry type to avoid problems down the road...I thought about the Nismo but damn $85 is too much, Amsoil is half that and I know its reuseable but I rather buy a new one every 25K miles or so...what are your thoughts?

Question

Yes I too want to know how good the Amsoil engine air filter really is?

I haven't changed the engine air filter in my 2005 Sedan which is roughly a little over 16k.

EAA74 the same part number for the G35 Sedan?

Thanks!
