Test pipe rattle?

Hey guys I just got a pair of Top Speed resonated test pipes. When I shake the TP there is a slight rattling that comes from the resonators. Please let me know if this is normal, thanx

Anyway...I figured out what it was. Double wrapped these bad boys in exhaust heat wrap, aint no way in hell rasp will be heard through the combination of the wrap and the resonators.

If there is anybody out ther who is on the wall still about test pipes because they are afraid of the increase in sound, this might be the ultimate solution...

If I can figure how to get pics from my phone to the puter I'll try posting some. Basically I wrapped from the flange to the resonator, over lapping each wrap a little bit, and holding the ends down with a zip tie. After doing two layers of wrap, I used hose clamps where the zip tie originally where. Didnt get a chance last weekend to get them installed, but this saturday hopefully.

I see. So you wrapped the test pipe itself only, not overlapping onto the header or the y-pipe. And you only wrapped from the front flange(where it meets the header) down to the resonator? Why not all the way down to the other flange?

Mainy because it was a real pain in the *** to try and wrap it over the resonator since it is a much larger diameter then the pipe it self. Plus, I mean it IS resonated, so that in itself should help.

By the way, this wasn't my idea, I remember reading some one else on this board did this with success. For an extra $20 worth in materials I figure it can't hurt.

I dont remeber the title of the thread. But I remember the person had Labree TP's, which are supposedly higher quality, but I cant justify paying $400 for TP's (you can get a decent pair of headers for $500). I bought mine used for $50, the person who had them before me had them on a Z, and said he never had any issues with rasp.

Do you have a link to the Top Speed site by chance? Let us know how they sound and perform, I am interested in a decently priced set.
