shifting to neutral at high speeds

Has anyone done this (no CAI installed) before and gotten the check engine light and all other kinds of lights turn on, on the instrument panel?

the ECU probably got confused and just threw out a bunch of errors.... but yea, it happened to me tonight.... Just got a little scared.

now i know to never do that again...... i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else with a stock intake (or ztube)...

I've done it a few times and it makes my engine SHUT OFF!... but that's only after really revving up to 100 or 80mph (about 5 or 6K rpm's) and then idling it.

if cruising and then idling, there isn't usually a problem.

Jamaica: i think mine shut off too.... the rpm dropped to ZERO instead of when it shoulda been at 700.... so I tried to turn the key but nothing happened, then I popped it back into 6th gear and it seemed okay then. Did you do the same when your engine shut off on you?

vasgo: have u tried it on the G yet?

Richie, my RPMs will drop to zero and all the lights will come on, then I have to clutch in and restart the car. If you read the responses to the post I had made (link above), you might come to the conclusion that our problems are different.

One person advised me that it may be the air turbulence caused by the stillen CAI at high speed with the car idling - a much different probable cause than yours. :-/

i was just reading on my350z a bunch of people have this problem with the popcharger. so they got a solution from some 300z tt guys - take a piece of ductape and place it vertiacally across the bottom of the intake. I don't have an intake yet so i have no idea what they're talking about. but, you can go search the my350z.com forum - its in the engin/intake exhaust forum. hope this helps

I looked at the my350 forum and checked out a couple of threads..... I don't have a popcharger either so I don't think it's the same problem....

I guess I'm going to go with the "don't shift to neutral when going 120mph" solution =)
