MD 5/16 Spacer

Well, I just purchased a MD 5/16 spacer this afternoon. It will be my first "performance" mod.

I can't wait to get this thing installed!

EDIT - It is now installed, see below for a brief review.

congrats, let me know how it works out, i'm looking to do the same thing once i get my tax returns. Did you get it with the iso-thermal gasket or just the plain spacer?

Congrats. I picked up an used Crawfordz V5 plenum for a song. But I need to give the car to Infiniti for some warranty work first. The V5 might stick out too much and they would notice it.

I will be sure to post a review after my install. I just bought the basic spacer figuring that I would ease into the world of modding and self-installs knowing that I can upgrade to the iso at any time if warranted.

BTW, did I mention how much waiting sucks?

I ordered it directly from the MotorDyne website.

You'll like it. Even my highly critical butt dyno noticed better acceleration.

how do you install it I see pictures of the spacer and some screws is there a write up somewhere I don't want to order the spacer and then take it to a shop and they take 10 minutes to do something I was too ignorant about to do myself.

there's a whole buncha screws
but, yeah, Motordyne provides very thorough instructions (9 pages worth w/ b&w pics that comes in the box).
since you also enjoy tropical weather, there's no need for you to get the throttle body Coolant Control Valve.

my take on the Iso Thermal plenum spacer system is that there is a bit of a gain, but you gotta be really in tune w/ your car to notice it. definitely not a "holy shiet! " type of deal. Honestly, after a month with it, i've forgotten if there was much of a change at all... my butt dyno isn't the greatest.
i feel it's a seamless integration, & hasn't caused any hiccups so far
i'm happy & would recommend this mod to even the casual car tinkerer.

an inch-lbs torque wrench is suggested for the install-- let me know if you like borrow. you will need to re-torque the bolts to specs a couple hundred miles after the install.

Perry,

Here are the detailed instructions directly from the MotorDyne website (the instruction booklet will also come with the spacer). Visit their website and/or call Tony for some really good information concerning their products.

Got it thank! Thanks jameyb and jimmyc. I am going to go with the $265.00 5/16 Iso thermal since I have a 5AT.
