Disappointing HKS Dual Exhaust Dyno Numbers!

Went to the dyno today to see what I picked up on the dyno after the HKS install and I only picked up 5 HP and 4 TQ Peak at the wheels. I was 10 degrees hotter from my last dyno but I doubt that made a difference. I will post dynos later. I probably need a UTEC.

Had you let the ECU "adapt" to the new system? Did you do a reset?

don't mean to hijack this thread but....

is it me or is it that exhaust systems aren't the best-bang-for-your buck mod....

what's the cost of the hks exhaust? 900-1200 dollars for a mere 5 hp/4 lb-ft of torque peak gain.... mrev plus nets near 15+ hp/tq gain across the power band for less than 700 bucks...

i guess the pros would be the 55lb weight loss (any loss of unsprung weight is a definite plus), good Ti looks, and good sound.... you win some you lose some...

the exhaust is fairly well designed for the car as is; the biggest blocks are the headers and cats.........I don't know why people think upgrading the catback will magicaly yield them +20rwhp on these cars......these arn't Cobras you know.

I have come to the conclusion that HP=$$ is the same for just about any mod you do. 900 bux for an exhaust gets you 5 hp. That's $180 per HP. 8000 bux for a super charger gets you 100-150 hp. that's about $53 to $80 per HP. A better deal for sure, but still not cheap. These motors just cost a lot of money to mod because, a. they are tweaked a lot as it is, and b. they just don't make speed parts in the quantities that make them cheap.

I mean, look at the small block Chevy. I'ts MUCH cheaper to get an extra 150 ponies out of that than the VQ 35. Heck, throw on an intake, carb, headers, cams, a little head work, pistons, and rods and you still haven't spent the price of a SC for the G.

It's 15lb weight loss. 55 total is with the spare and tools out.
The pros of this exhaust are looks, sound, weight loss, and compatibility with a TT.

it looks nice..... but you gatta be kidding me that all you do is add exhaust and think you're going to yield some astronomical numbers..... all you are is creating a better air flow (mind you the bottle neck is in the headers AND the catalylic converters....... 4 filters.....) the exhaust is relieving a little bit of back pressure..... did you loose low end torque btw.......... you need FI to yield some super high numbers..... all these little AIR upgrrades will yield little here and there but that's about it......

Ya I guess I was expecting at least 10hp. And yes I did lose low end torque.

ECU reset should have been done.

Get a K&N Drop in filter and headers.
Can't go wrong.

Hmmm . . . I thought increase would have been a bit more than that. How many miles did you have on the HKS prior to the dyno run?
