HELP!!! HKS Installation Question

Hey guys

I finally took the plunge today and bought the HKS and got it installed the same day. The dealer was really busy, so I took it to a shop I usually goto for other things. They never installed this on a G before, but they do work on 150k+ cars, so they are good at what they do.

The dealer told me that when installing the exhaust, make sure that (Please excuse my lack of technical knowledge, I'm still new to all of this) the "evap canister", or something like that, gets moved because the exhaust won't fit.

However, when it was installed there were no problems and everything fit fine without having to move anything.

My question is for those that have the HKS or one very similar...did you have to move anything or did the exhaust just bolt on in place of the stock exhaust.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. It sounds soooooo sweeeet!!!!! I'm lovin it!!!!!!!

I installed my HKS exhaust with no issues. Everything bolted right into place without the need to remove/relocated anything.

Yes, it does sound waaay sweet, doesn't it? Enjoy!

Thanks, you're the second person to respond with the same answer. I don't know why the dealer told me that. They had nothing to gain.

Your post in another thread about your experience with the exhaust was the deciding factor for me. I was a little hesitant at first, but after I read your post and how much you loved it, I just had to get it installed right away.

I know I'm going to waste 2-3 full tanks of gas this weekend!!

If anybody did relocate or move anything during their install please let me know.

Thanks

So you bought the HKS Lokey Infiniti had in stock? Great choice! I installed my HKS about a month ago and I absolutely love it.

Check out the Florida G35 Club section. I'm trying to get a few guys together to go to Bradenton Motorsports Park this Thursday to see how/if any this exhaust has helped.

I just installed the HKS exhaust too. I had no problems and everything bolted up smoothly. I have to agree, it sounds awesome.

Yeah, I bought the last one they had. I wanted to get it installed the same day, but Lokey was so busy. I ended up going to CarStar to get it installed.

Yeah this is a really sweet exhaust...I can't help but slam on the gas every time. Its addicting!!! I drove around in a parking garage for like an hour just listening to it!!!

I've been wanting to go out to Bradenton for some time. I keep seeing the commercials on TV. I won't be able to make it this thursday since I'll be out of town. Hopefully next time.

Also, there is a group that meets up once a month and has an autocross course setup at SPC. All kinds of cars are there except for G's. I've been trying to go represent, but I've been too busy. I'll start a thread about it next time they have one.

I have the same two exact problems. I thought it was just me. The tip hanging out too far doesn't bother me as much as the rattle. Its so embarrassing. Did you try to get it fixed? I'm going back to the shop on Monday to see what they can do.

Where is the heat shield? With mine it rattles regardless whether its hot or cold. It sounds like its coming from somewhere near the tips, but I could be wrong.

^^^^ Could it be the ground wire rattling against the exhaust? Did you reconnect that?

EVAP canister.. charcoal canister.. hooked up to your gas tank.. when liquid fuel becomes a vapor it gets vented into that tank (instead of the atmosphere) then when you run your car it purges itself into your fuel system and you burn it and the tree loving people are happy..

why they tell you not to top off your tank.. cause if you fill the charcoal can up with fuel its not gona work nymore..

incase ur still wondering what the dealer was talking about

I don't think it was ever removed. I'm going to the shop tomorrow, hopefully they can figure it out. I'll tell them about the ground wire.
