Took My Injen Cold Air Intake Off.Impressions.
'03 Sedan, Automatic;
Well, took the intake off after I had it on my car for about a year.
The most immediate reaction was the engine was EXTREMELY quiet compared to the way it was with the intake on...also much much less aggressive sounding.
After driving a few days I must say the car feels a little bit slower, almost a little less "punchy". The reason I say this is because when I used to hit the gas I'd be immediately thrown back in the seat. Now with the intake off it seems to take an extra second or two before I get that torquey feeling.
It's not just me either, my girlfriend commented the same...while we were in the car I downshifted to switch lanes and she immediately remarked on how the car felt a little less "jumpy".
I don't have any dyno's of any kind to support my claims, so this is all on the "butt dyno". Nonetheless, you can definitely make the case that it's all placebo and the loss of that aggressive sound might translate into a feeling of a loss of power.
But the more I drive it and focus on just the car, and not the sound, the car still feels a little bit slower...I don't know, call me crazy.

i just recently took off my Injen CAI as well, and i had the same impressions as you as well. took a little bit longer for power to kick in, but not too bad. i think we all don't give our mods too much credit, but once we take them off, it's a noticeable difference.
the reason why i'm doing it is because the car is being traded in and w/o the intake, i get much better gas mileage.

Yea, exactly...you really notice it once you take it off..
My gas mileage has been about the same.
