Maxima HIDs?

Just thought I'd throw this one out there and see if anyone else has noticed the same thing... I know the G is known for its very true white HIDs, but I kind of like the purple look you get with some other manufacturers and/or vehicles...
The other day, I saw the most fantastic set of HIDs coming down the road, and then I realized, hey, those are from a brand new maxima. Quite sweet. What kind of bulbs etc do the Maximas use? I hear you can achieve the same color by just swapping the bulbs?

I'm sort of an HID newb but love the results from the Maxima setup, any ideas on how to get the same effect?

by achieving that color with just a bulb swap you are gonna kill your light output ie) 8000k+ ...want would be better is to do a clear lens swap if you have a set of projectors...i believe TSX lens is preferable

I don't think the OEM maxima bulbs are 8000k+ though, more like 4500k...? Thats just what people tell me... I'm sort of an HID newb and don't know what all goes into getting the right look... maybe it's these lame reflectors :P

what i'm saying is that oem lights that produce the nice color and flicker is usually due to a clear projector lens as opposed to a fresnel lens that g35 has..not sure what the lights on a maxima are but the only way to get that kinda color on a g is either by crap bulbs with a 8-10k temp or by doing a lens swap...the latter half is the option you are looking for contact ivoryGT...you'll find plenty of his work in the lighting forum

ah ha... teh fresnel has foiled me.
crap bulbs are not cool, i've been down that road before and it just seems to make me grumpy.

I already PM'd ivoryGT, he definitely seems to be the man with the plan.

thanks, I am now one step farther from HID newb-dom
