I need help: new front bumper/spoiler combo or make insurance pay to fix it correctly
Two weeks ago, I was involved in a hit and run which was estimated to be $1300 of damage. The body shop I took it to wants $1900 to fix it; correctly!! I carry a policy which holds OE/Betterment, which I am still confused as to what it means. Anyway, the insurance compay agreed to repaint the whole front bumper and not the spoiler. I understand not including the spoiler because it is detachable from the bumper and was not damaged in the incident. But the insurance company wants to spray over the rock chips on the bumper. This would be silly in my view. The difference in the $600 price is for a new bumper cover, spoiler and paint for the spoiler.
Does this sound right to anyone?
Should I repaint the rock chips?
Should I buy a Nismo or other bumper? Where would I find one for under $500 shipped?
Should I buy a new OE bumper and N1 Front Lip from IntensePower.com?

Well, let me restate what they said; my error. The $600 difference is for a new bumper cover, sanding and paint for the spoiler. So, I do not need a new spoiler.
If they re-spray the bumper as it currently is, it will have fresh paint but little divots where the rock chips are. It would not be a smooth finish.

they have no responsibility for rock chips, they are only responsible for taking care of the damage done by the other car, the rock chips were from previous incidents, why should they have to fix that?
They can only make you whole by putting your damage back together to the condition it was in before the accident. You should take the new coat of paint theyre giving you on the spoiler and run since it will most likely look better than it was before w/ just the divots in it....Otherwise spring for the sanding cost....

Well, I am going to spring for it. They are giving me “free bumper paint”. The thing which I am at arms with is that they would paint divots into the car which will look like crap and lower the value of the car even more than if they did not paint the chips.
