AT Console Removal
AT Console Removal
I've searched this to death and I still can't find it. I'm sure it probably already exists...
I need a DIY or similar on removing the AT shift **** and console of an 03 sedan. My dad dented his console (round plate surrounding the shifter) and would like to be able to replace it himself.
I have a 6MT and obviously, they are different.
Thanks for the link or DIY instructions.

From what I remember everything is pretty much the same except on how to remove the OEM shift ****. I think if you look for the DD DIY it covers taking ou tthe center console.
Here is my cheap DIY a while back:
Good Luck!
1. Engage the parking brake; depress the brake pedal and remove the plastic cover for the shift lock button. I had no luck using my screw drivers so I just used a toothpick to push it in; when you hear the click; shift the **** to "N".
2. Pull the plastic sleeve on your shift **** down. THe part will slide down to the base of the ****. After this; remove the C clip on the ****. Keep the C clip somewhere you will remember; small part and can easily get lost.

[note in picture I tried doing it in Park; will not work as center console will not move unless shifter is in N]
3. Push the button and lift the **** straight up; you will have the shift **** now dislodged. You can add your MOMO or other AT shift **** if you are not looking at adding a shift boot.

4. Open up the ash tray(my coin holder) and the cup holder. Remove all your junk inside there. Open your arm rest; from the back of the center console; lift straight up. Your center console should come up from the back.

5. Push the center console gently towards you; there are no screws just a clip. When you feel it disengage; manoveur the change holder to get out of the HU area. Disengage the wiring for the seat warmers (if so equiped) and the lighting for the shift plate.

6. You will now be able to lift the center console and place it somewhere; preferably a MF towel on your seats and lay it down. The shift circle for the AT is attached with two screws and is connected to a harness. I think you will just need to remove those two things; and you should be able to remove it and place the new shift circle.
