what's the kit

Called (side skirts i guess) to replace the fugly black plastic on the sides and rear of my 04 Sedan. I know some have painted theirs to match the body color. Which option is cheaper/better

Usually it's the Nismo skirts. I'm just going to paint mine, I think that the Nismo skirts stick out too much and look too much like an afterthought; the rear valence is even worse. It doesn't look bad with wide wheels, it just looks really bad with the stock 5 spokes.

painting is "cheaper"... as for "better", that’s subjective, its up to you... Nismo sides don’t look that much different than OEM painted IMO.

another alternative are the stillen side sills they are just under $200 each unpaint and may be more or cheaper depending on the cost of painting them in your area than Nismo. I love mines but you'll need something to match on the font and rear.

I just got the whole kit but painted the sides with color-matched sideskirts. Its really about what you want. I do agree with you about the wheels though, you'd need wider wheels with lower offsets to finish the look Happy modding.

someone should really sticky a thread like this with photos of painted versions of each kit. i'm bookmarking this one, it'll make it much easier to choose if i can see them all quickly at once.

just my two pennies!

Thank you guys for your response. I already got a quote for painting, but the shop said it will chip easily, I'm thinking ok just like the front bumper. There isn't much I can do about that, except install a bra, which isn't happening.

I cant believe you don't know! It's the first mod every 03-04 sedan owner dreams of gettting as soon as they get their car . Its a factory aero bumper part of the aero kit talked about in this thread. It's often times referred to as a "nismo" kit. It's a genuine nissan part and comes prepainted. It's not cheap though . Here is mine.

The shop is lazy. I painted my lower rockers and the rear bumper myself and I've never painted a car before. I don't have any chips. It's all in the prep. See my lower sill painting DIY in the "Body/Exterior" section.
