i left my ballast on, and took the bulbs out. not sure if it was a good idea to leave the ballast on, but i've baked my lights on at least 6 different occasions, and have not experienced any issues

Its just a few screws to remove the ballast, why risk it?

ballast should be ok. i'm would assume the temperature of the bulbs get just as hot when lit up, but just take them out, its not that hard.

If you bake with the oven off, YES.

surest way to open them without anything getting damaged.

Pre-heat to 350.

Turn oven OFF!!!!

place headlight in for 10 minutes

Remove screws and pry apart while paying attention to the tabs, they'll stretch if you don't unclipp them.

You can do this with ballasts and bulbs...its fine, the oven doesnt heat up the parts that hot, just enough for the rubber.

most difficult part of this whole process is taking off and putting on the bumper... the oven part is not so bad, as long as you don't overbake

We removed bulbs, ballasts, and entire wiring harness when I had my lights done. It's an additional 5-10 mins. Why risk anything?
