has anyone got it paint matched? I was thinking of getting a bodyshop to do it for me so it matches perfectly. I have a black 06 coupe

Sorry to bring this thread back to life but want to paint grill black. Going with dupli-color black primer, not sure if i should go dupli-color gloss black or dupli-color universal black. Any thoughts? But either way do you always need the clear coat step?

^just look through the pages to find out if you want gloss or not, as for clear coat, you should use it if you want it to stay on for a while

I really advise getting Duplicolor paint (found at Autozone).. Save yourself the time of doing it over again (like I did).. Goes on evenly, and the nozzle makes a HUGE difference.. Take your time and use multiple coats. Duplicolor also aids in not cracking under heat and cold..
This is the reason I couldn't decide between universal or gloss. Dupli has both universal and gloss, twalls said he went gloss but used universal. So I wasn't sure if the univeral was a type of gloss.

Question. Do you guys paint the inner portion of the Mt. Fuji symbol? like the area that goes into the grill but u can still see a bit if you are close enough. Its hard for me to tell on the above pics if its actually painted or just a reflection.

Debating whether to get it paint matched or go with another grill

no i didn't paint the back portion of the mount fuji emblem, but i will be, i like it paint matched, looks really clean imo
