Don't know how it happened. I pull the release in the car and the hood doesn't pop up. I've had someone pull the release while pushing down on the hood and it doesn't pop back up. The cable is engaging the latch, but it's just stuck in the mechanism some how.

How can I "unpop" it out?

 

Looks like my cable got stretched, so now I have to give it a little extra push with my finger when I pull on the release.

 

JUST had that happen to me right now, and your thread totally saved me lol. I did the pull with a plier and at first it was just hanging there I was like fuuuuuuuu. Then I gave it a little more pull to kinda adjust it back to is position( there's like a bracket there that keeps the cable straight) and WOOBAM! My hood is back again . Mine isn't loose tho o didn't need to pull it with my finger
