that's what I thought when they gave me the quote....

i'm going through insurance...so it'll be up to them. I got a quote from one of their recommended body shops and also at an independent body shop. Both came in around $1450.

Looks like the paint chipped all the way down to the plastic part of the bumper. there's also some minor scratches in the rear qtr panel that doesn't come up in the pic...

like I said, it's gonna be up to the insurance agent to decide. Either way, I have a no cash deductible, so the bumper is gonna get fixed/replaced and insurance will be covering it.

We shall see how it turns out...

Thats not too far off the mark.......
My wife tapped my rear bumper last year, (OH WAS I PISSED!) and left two circular chips where her license plate bolts hit my bumper.....

I took it to our local body shop, and they told me to fix "those little marks" would be about $475. I asked so politely why so much, and he told me because of metallic and pearl paints, they have to blow in almost the whole rear bumper to get it to match......

Is that BS, probably not, but if you know someone who would take the time, they could probably do the repairs effectively and alot less costly....

If it is just the bumper, I had the whole bumper replaced for $660 from a reputable body shop recomended by my insurance co. It included the Styrofoam inside the bumper.

 

then get an aftermarket REAR BUMPER!!!

well, just my luck....the adjuster changed it from a comprehensive damage to collision.

$500 deductible....

either case, his estimate came out to be around the same as the other two estimates.

i believe a reason for the high cost is that there is some slight scrape in the rear quarter panel that needs to get fixed as well. they also charge 2.4 hours @ $68/hr to remove and install the bumper

i've actually considered an aftermarket bumper. the only full bumper I remotely like is the Impul, but without the other parts of the kit, I think it would just look funny.

we'll see in a week what $1450 repair job looks like

Yikes! My wife got some surface scratches on her Ivory Pearl FX35 on both of the passenger side doors. I bet the bill on that fix isn't going to be pretty.[img]/w3timages/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

wow thats terrible. i know how you feel man. i just got my car back from the body shop two days ago. my friend backed up into it a few weeks ago. its a ' 91 camry and it had a dented header panel, cracked side marker, and marked up bumper. so they ended up getting a new header panel, new sidemarker and repainting the entire bumper and my all my friend had to pay was $300. too bad you dont live in houston or this shop could of helped you.

insurance is paying for this right? i found that its a very bad thing to tell the body shop that insurance would be paying for the damages. i took my car to the shop that his mom recommended and they told me about $2200. it was ridiculous. i wanted to save my friend the trouble of having his insurance shoot up so i went to my trusty body shop.

if you live here in San Francisco bay area I know a good body shop that would fix that for $250.

I had a foot long deep gash down the bumper.

 

friend of mine scraped the side fo my car when he was pulling out.. dent and scratched down to the metal on teh driver side door.. had it repainted and the dent fixed for 500.. and it looks great
