How NOT to ship a G35 bumper!

So, I stopped by a reputable local bodyshop here in the Mid-A (whom Im very familiar with) to talk to the parts guy about saving me some boxes to ship out some body panels for a Z that's getting parted out.
'
Well...while I was there he points to a box on the shelf and says "I have a box for a bumper right there for ya (chuckle, chuckle)". I looked on the storage shelf to see no apparent box that would be even close to fitting a full front bumper.

He pulls down this perfectly square box and I was in disbelief and couldn't help but start laughing hysterically. My first thought...please tell me you started a thread about this!? He said he got it off a member on the forums here. I looked to see if I could figure out who but gave up pretty quickly. Just beware when buying parts everyone......

Enjoy! Lol

The second is NOT the bumper in a box...It's the actual bumper which got shipped correctly.

The one I got from Eric was folded but not that bad. ONly the sides were folded in. A day out in the sun and it was all good. Could not even tell it was folded like a pretzel.

The body shop the OP mentioned is a very reputable shop and if they could not do anything with it then no one could have.

OP - Did you happen to see a Twilight Blue Sedan while you were there??

I honestly didn't look. They have sooooo many cars there right now (and always really). Im sure it was though. There are always a handful of Z's and G's up there when I stop by to say hi to the guys. Some of us give them a LOT of referrals b/c we've been so happy with their work.

Ok....MAYBE you could have done something with it. But making it "ok" is not how some of us (including this bodyshop) work and operate a business. The customer deserves it done RIGHT, not "Ok". Leaving it out in the sun? In December/January? Come on. Shipping a bumper like that is just plain unacceptable I don't care what circumstance.

The fact some of you seem to be ok with it is puzzling....

If it's any consolation, this supplier has since changed the way they ship their bumpers due to some complaints.

Yeah, they were originally shipping like that to cut shipping costs for the buyers. They got some complaints about it and they have since raised the shipping prices a little to ship it right.

IMO - paying a little more to have it done right is the way to go and if you can't afford to pay a few dollars more to ship it, then you shouldn't be modding your G lol

Yeah I was so pissed/puzzled when I got my nismo front bumper box from klumzee baaaack in the day, but after even a couple of hours in the South Florida sun it was back to its original shape... like those 3 second fold-up tents that you throw it up and it lands ready to go lol

I've personally seen bumpers folded even worse than that and all you have to do is place it in the sun for a day or so and it'll go back to normal. I really don't see a problem with it.

wow, that's amazing, I don't think I've had one complaint about our shipping on bumpers...

even if you can fold poly and re-heat it to change it's shape, you shouldn't. PLUS, imagine what that same bumper is going to do when it's in the sun after being INSTALLED on the car!
